HOW TO PLAY

Fairway Footy is a team competition that combines your everyday golfing activity with your favourite footy teams weekly performances.

Each Fairway Footy team is made up of 2 players who are both members of the same golf club. When registering their team they are required to nominate their favourite football team from their preferred code (NRL or AFL) and this then becomes their Fairway Footy partnership for the duration of the football season.

Each Fairway Footy team is awarded a team points score on a weekly basis.

At the end of each week the “team captain” of each team will be emailed a scoring update form which they use to submit their teams golf scores as per scoring below. Their Fairway Footy points score is then calculated by Fairway Footy admin using the method below (see scoring). At the completion of the Home and Away fixtures, the top 8 teams of each code will qualify for the finals series. These finals are to be played out in the exact same format as adopted by each football code. (see finals format.)

The winning teams will both be decided on Grand Final day.

To enter a team simply proceed to the registration page and fill out the registration form for your team. Registration closes one week prior to the first game of the football fixtures.

The one off fee payable upon registration is just $49.50 per player, or less than $1 per week. This gives you Fairway Footy membership for a period of 12 months from the date of registration. You are then automatically entered into the competition and have exclusive members access to any future Fairway Footy offers and promotions. You will receive confirmation of your registration by return email.

HANDICAPPING

As all golfers are handicapped in order to produce a level playing field for everyone, so to are the football teams.

Each week Centrebet, an online betting agency, release even money betting handicaps for each team. These handicaps are calculated by taking into account factors such as form, quality of opposition, team selection, venue, weather conditions, etc.

By using this method it makes no difference if your favourite team is a potential premiership winner or wooden spooner they still have the same chance from week to week. The coming weeks fixtures along with the handicaps will be displayed on the website every week.

SCORING

Your weekly Fairway Footy score is calculated taking into account both your golf scores and your footy teams result.

FF golf results-

.Each member of a team can compete in as many official individual club competitions as they like between Sunday and Saturday inclusive. All of these scores are converted back to stableford points. At the end of each week  each team member records their best 18 hole stableford score returned  that week.. These two scores will be used to determine your FF score.

If a team member does not play a single round, they will be awarded 30 points

The highest of these two scores is known as their teams A score and the lowest is known as their teams B score.

.

FF footy results-

Whether your team counts their WIN or LOSS score is dependant upon how well your favourite footy team fares against its opposition.

At the conclusion of each individual football match the Centrebet handicap will be added or deducted from the final margin. Much like in golf this will leave us with a NETT result for each football game.

Points will be awarded as follows based on the NETT result:

Nett Win –4 points plus the A golf score .

Nett Loss -0 points plus the B golf score.

Bye - 2 points plus the average of your A and B scores.

EXAMPLE

Player A and Player B form a team with the Brisbane Broncos as their favourite footy team.

In Round 1 Player A returns a best score of 40 points. Player B returns a best score of 34 points.

The Broncos play Cronulla and are handicapped at -8.5 points.

SCENARIO 1

Broncos win the game by 22 to 13, giving them a NETT win by .5 point. Therefore the Fairway Footy team is awarded 40 points plus 4 points for the win.

SCENARIO 2

Broncos win the game by 22 to 16, giving them a NETT loss by 2.5 points. Therefore the Fairway Footy team is awarded 34 points plus 0 points for the loss.

These scores and all leader boards will be updated weekly and be able to be viewed on the website.

THE BOWDO BONUS

US PGA Touring Professional Steven Bowditch, an avid Knights supporter himself, thought the format so exciting that he decided to involve himself by participating in the “Bowdo Bonus”.

One team from each code will be drawn randomly each week.

The successful teams will be awarded the added bonus of Steven Bowditch becoming an extra member of their team for the week.

They then have the option of using Steven’s best single round score for the PGA tournament he’s playing in that week if it proves better than any of their own scores.

Teams can only win the Bowdo Bonus once.

The draw will take place every Monday and the drawn teams notified by email.

FINALS FORMAT

At the completion of the home and away season the top 8 teams will be assigned the rankings 1-8 and  commence head to head weekly finals matches under the identical format as adopted by the relevant football code. The scoring however will be now based on each teams FF golf score only. This score will be the average of each teams 1 and 2 ranked golf scores.  If teams are tied on points in a finals match then the highest ranked team will be awarded the winner. The final two teams will play off in the Grand Final week, culminating on Grand Final day, to decide the Fairway Footy premier.

PRIZES

Winners of both codes will receive their choice of Callaway golf product to the value of $1000 per team member.
